A well-done gel manicure should look as good on day 18 as it did when you left. When it doesn’t, the cause is usually something small that happened at home. Here is what our nail techs tell every client.
1. Treat your nails like jewels, not tools
Opening cans, scraping labels and typing with your nail tips put stress on the free edge, which is where chips start. Use the pads of your fingers instead.
2. Oil your cuticles every day
A drop of cuticle oil at night keeps the skin around your nails soft and stops the gel from drying out and lifting at the edges.
3. Wear gloves for chores
Hot water and cleaning products are hard on any manicure. Gloves for dishes and cleaning add days to your set.
4. Never peel it off
Peeling gel takes layers of your natural nail with it and leaves nails thin and bendy. Add gel removal to your next appointment and we’ll soak it off gently.
